WordPress 4.6 ” Pepper” has just been released to the world and some of it’s changes are significant. They didn’t disappoint with this update and there is a few welcome new features to add to WordPress’ already impressive portfolio. But how will this update actually change your blogging?
A big change for the WordPress admin backend. Remember updating your theme, or a plugin, or WordPress itself – only to be taken away to a different page? No more. WordPress now manages it’s updates streamline to what you are doing. In the theme panel? You’ll stay there. In the plugin directory page? Install one and you’ll stay there. It’s a much more sensible workflow for updates, and a great new feature in WordPress 4.6.
WordPress 4.6 provides much more robust content recovery when writing through a browser. More and more people write WordPress posts directly in the browser – instead of writing in an external program like Microsoft Word and copying into your website or blog. Due to this, the more reliable the content recovery system in WordPress can get; the better. WordPress 4.6 will autosave your work in the background when you type, and you’ll find it even easier to recover the content that you have written if you have a network disconnection or you close your browser.
WordPress 4.6 Admin Speed
A number of changes contribute to aiming to speed up the admin area inside WordPress. One of these larger changes is using the native fonts within the admin that you have available on your device already. If you’re browsing on an iPhone, it will use default Apple fonts. On a desktop, a default font for that machine will be used. This will decrease load times as it stops the need to have to download custom fonts for the admin.
